How to create a boot disk OS X Lion

Unlike previous versions of Mac OS X Lion is not delivered on physical media. Instead, you can purchase and download from Snow Leopard, Mac App Store.

But what if you want to do a clean install, boot from an optical disk or external or install on your Mac León (which is perfectly legal) without having to download again and again?

Fortunately, there is a way to create a boot disk, a DVD or an external USB or FireWire. Administrator privileges are required, so be sure to get your password at your fingertips.

First, purchase and download the lion Mac App Store. When the download is complete, an application called "Install Mac OS X Lion" will appear in the Applications folder and Dock. It works automatically, but instead of following the onscreen instructions to install the new operating system, exit the installer can be run later by clicking its icon in the Dock, as you would any other application.

Show Package Contents

Search 3.76GB Install Mac OS X Lion file located in the Applications folder. Right click on the icon and select Show Package Contents. In the Finder window that opens, go to> SharedSupport, and copy the file InstallESD.dmg to move to another location while holding down the Option key.

You can then follow the instructions below to create a bootable USB drive or DVD.

After installing the Leo disappears Install Mac OS X Lion-file and you can not download it again via the App Store, and if you open your purchased tab you will find the option is grayed out, because Leo is already installed.

If you have access to a Mac that is still in Snow Leopard, which is used to open the Mac App Store and sign in. Then you can download through the card to buy without having to pay again. Otherwise, you must create a record of Snow Leopard to boot.

First, find an external hard drive and connect your Mac to make sure that there is nothing that you want to keep, open Disk Utility. Select a unit from the left side, and open the Erase tab choose Mac OS Extended (Journaled) Format tab. Call it what you want, and press the Delete key to delete and format it.

The restart time

With its installation in the Snow Leopard disc into the optical drive, restart your Mac with the Option key. Choose to boot from Mac OS X installation DVD, and when prompted, install Snow Leopard on the external drive.

When you restart the Mac from the newly installed version of Snow Leopard, follow the onscreen instructions to set as the new Mac 10.6.8 update via Software Update and opens the Mac App Store. Log in and select the capture card. Lion is available for download, you will not have to pay again.

When it is finished downloading, the installation program starts automatically. Finish InstallESD.dmg and extract the OS Install Mac OS X Lion file found in programs as described above.

If you want to start again with the Lion before completing this tutorial, simply restart your choice of Mac celebration, and this time select your main hard drive. The installation program you just downloaded Lion then be found by looking in the applications folder an external hard drive.

How do I install the drive and do a clean install

1. Create a USB startup disk

First, find a USB key (or if you prefer, FireWire) hard at least 5 GB in size. You can use an external hard drive or flash drive, there is no doubt that it is formatted Mac OS Extended (Journaled). If not, reformat the disk utility.

2. Restore the disk image

In Disk Utility, click the Restore tab. Are you getting the file InstallESD.dmg extracted from the installer application Lion earlier in the Source field. Pull the disk or partition to the left in the Destination field. Press the Restore button.

3. The finished product

When the process is complete, your external hard drive can be used as a boot disk lion, and also to install Leo on other Macs. To learn how to boot from this disk, do a clean install or just install the lion on another Mac Snow Leopard, see steps 6-8.

4. Create boot DVD

Creating a bootable DVD is a process very similar, and again use Disk Utility, and requests InstallESD.dmg installer file extracted from Leo. First, insert a blank DVD. Open Disk Utility and click the Burn button on the left side of the top bar.

5. Burn

A window titled Select an image to burn. In this window, navigate and select the file and press InstallESD.dmg record. A window in the disk utility that prompts you to save disk - to do so. When finished, the disc is ejected. You have created a bootable DVD.

6. Use a boot disk or drive

You can start a new Mac, DVD or external drive, first insert the disc or switch the unit. Restart your Mac while holding down the Option key. You can choose the equipment has begun. Select the new boot volume and begins this window.

7. A new installation

To perform a clean install, choose Disk Utility from the menu window. Select your boot disk and delete the main Mac. Quit Disk Utility and the menu window, reinstall Mac OS X. The boot volume that you created, choose not to require Internet access to install.

8th A default installation

Lion to install without erasing your Mac hard drive, reboot using the new boot volume, and select reinstall Mac OS X as described in step 7, but without using Disk Utility to clean the disc start-up. Again, you do not have to be connected to the internet to install.
