Every operating system that has
been launched under Windows
banner became huge hit
amongst the worldwide users.
Since the Windows XP, Microsoft
started putting more efforts on
user interface and graphics than
its functionality. Along with all
other important functionalities,
Microsoft branded operating
system bear some uncanny
resemblance with each other in
terms of recovery options. All the
Windows operating systems
offer almost same recovery
options like system recovery,
command prompt, automatic
system recovery, safe mode and
so on. Now with the latest
operating system Windows 7,
Microsoft has provided system
image recovery tool which is an
image of system copied on a
disk when system was running
without any defect. Using this
image, system can be restored to
its original health.
All of these options can be used
to recover system when
something goes wrong. For
example let us consider a
scenario where some virus is
preventing normal Windows
start up. In this case, as the user
cannot start OS, nothing can be
done except formatting or anti-
virus scan disk. But users, who
know how to start PC in safe
mode, can surely detect the issue
and rectify it. Safe mode is
nothing but a normal login mode
in which PC is started with a very
limited set of files and drivers.
No start up programs are started
in safe mode; only most basic
ones are enabled.
Safe mode proves to be very
useful when a driver or some file
is preventing normal Windows
startup. You can eliminate root
of problem or can restore
settings to previous versions
forcing Windows to start
normally.
