Since its inception, iPhone has always
been regarded as one of the best
smartphones that ever have been
created. It has everything, which can
attract anyone from a simple college
going child using it just for music purpose or to a businessman
exploiting its functionality to optimum
level. iPhone has always been in
controversies good or bad, but mostly
in good ones relating it to the best in
almost all categories like performance, graphic capability and look and feel. The latest development of the iPhone
series, iPhone 4GS has been released
with new iOS 4. This new operating
system has some important
improvements over its predecessor.
Not much is known about this alien looking operating system iOS,
attributed to its incompatibility with all
other third party cell phones or
applications. Let us try to prick the
hood that is covering this beautiful OS. Here are some cool iPhone tricks
and tips which might interest you:
Lock your iPhone orientation
Apple has provided orientation sensor
along with its iOS which detects the
way in which the iPhone is held and
changes the screen orientation
according to it. But while reading an
iBook or viewing a page in Safari, this otherwise attractive feature becomes a
problem as the screen orientation
keeps on flickering. So one can lock
the screen orientation if it likes. All one
has to do is double tap on ‘Home’
button and swipe its finger over activated app bar to right to reveal
iPhone controls and Portrait lock.
Scroll easily to the top of any web
page
If you are sliding down over a web
page to get more information and
once this is done, getting back to the
top of the page becomes a hectic
work. But iPhone provides you a
shortcut that would cut your 90% of efforts and is known to very few of the
users. Just a gentle tap on the Top bar
and the trick is done for you. Screenshots One of the most interesting features
that are found in very few cell phones
is ability to take.
screen shots.
With
iPhone you can take screenshots at
any time without worrying for current
application. Just press and hold “Home” button for some time and
press “sleep” button once. Your
screen will flash white and the
respective screenshot will be store in
your iPhone.
Insert a period while typing
After reading the title, one may think
that how can inserting period be a
trick? Well, yes, Apple does have
provided a small short cut in this one.
While typing rather than inserting a
period yourself, using keyboard menu, double taping on space bar will
insert a period followed by a space to
the text. Alternative characters Sometimes, we do require some
special characters for additional effect.
We can easily use such additional
characters by holding down any letter
on keyboard. This provides additional
popup with some interesting versions of characters.
There are some tricks which we felt
are the best suited for everyone to
know. Off course there are hundreds
of tricks available under the giant
hood of iOS; but all of them can be
found on internet. Here are some additional tricks which you might love
to learn about:
switching to the UK English,
killing a running app,
turning caps lock on,
selecting an icon for bookmarked page etc.
