Network lock or a subsidy lock is a built-in capability of a network device which is provided in cell phones working on GSM technology. Countries like USA, UK, etc. mobile phones are normally shipped with network provides and/or country locks. With the help of this feature network providers normally restrict the use of these cell phones with respect to several software and specific countries. SIM lock is a technology where a particular mobile device is specified to accept only specific SIM cards working on International Mobile Subscriber Identity (IMSI).
No carrier allows unlocking of their mobile phone device officially, but several software have been developed by the users which can unlock a phone and make it able to work with any other carrier.
iPhone 4, on the other hand, are by default locked to some network carrier by the means of custom firmware or using the feature that allows network operators to lock it to a particular carrier.
Additionally firmware of iPhone 4 or any of its version, is designed in such a way that it does not allows any third party software install, forcing user only towards Apple sponsored applications.
Now a question may arise in one’s mind, what if he wants to use iPhone 4 which is free from any kind of network lock; can it be done? The answer to this question is yes! It can be done. Thanks to various hackers’ teams spread across the world; they made it possible by developing various applications to unlock and jail break iPhone.
iPhone 4 can certainly be unlocked but the procedure is recommended only for advanced users as some it involves some complex processes. Thus one can get its iPhone 4 unlocked at any mobile shop offering the same or else one can also try unlocking itself using some free software and online steps guidance. Some software that can be used to unlock iPhone 4 are resn0w, sn0wbreeze, ultrsn0w and blackr1an.
Recently, Apple has started selling unlocked iPhone 4 in USA. Even if it happens that you go to get an unlocked iPhone 4 but it is out of stock then a guy standing at checkout can unlock a locked one for you (http://www.cultofmac.com/apple-can-unlock-att-iphone-4-at-checkout/102496). So if you don’t want to void the guarantee provided by Apple and want to use an iPhone 4 in the legal terms, this is the only way for you. Otherwise those who do not care less about any guarantee and just want to have fun with iPhone 4, no better way than jail breaking an unlocking is present.
