Often we feel need to run two operating systems
at a time; not that everyone need it, but one who
is using some applications compatible with only
older operating systems, may experience this
fact. When such situation arise that those two
operating systems are incompatible with each
other, one of them has to be discarded for
computers’ good health! But now this unwilling
deletion of one operating system is no more
necessary. Yes! This is no sentence mistake, you
read right. The software called VMware
allows you to use two in fact multiples of
operating systems in your personal
computer provided your personal computer is
configuration is quite high otherwise your
computer might start working at snail’s speed.
Now a question is sure to be arising in one’s
mind, what is VMware? VMware is virtualization
software developed by VMware Inc.; a California
based company.
The desktop version of this software can run on
any of the current operating systems, viz.
Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, Linux etc., while
the server version can be run directly on
hardware. It provides a complete set of
virtualized hardware to the guest operating
systems. In simple words, VMware software
allows you to install one operating system into
another without fearing any interference between
two. The main advantage of VMware virtual
machine is, it is highly portable and thus one can
halt the machine in between operation and move
or copy that guest systems elsewhere and again
start the operation.
Some exciting features of VMware
VMware server software allows companies to
migrate the guest system to other place without
interrupting the operations.
Does not requirevirtualization enabled processors
to run this application.
There are three softwares are available under the
label VMware -
VMware Fusion - which provides similar
functionality to users of the Intel Mac platform.
VMware workstation - this application suit allows
users to run multiple guest systems into one host
system
And last is VMware player – this is a freeware
product for users who want to experience magic
of VMware without paying any fees at start.
