How To Show Hidden Files inWindows 7

Windows 7, like its previous predecessors, hides
certain kind of files like system files (OS utility
files). Sometimes it might be necessary for the
user to view the files that are hidden. It could be
due to malicious piece of software that might
have hid some files or may be requirement of a
curious user. The procedure is simple and easy
to follow since windows as such is considered to
be quite user friendly Operating System.
The steps that needs to be followed to show
hidden files in Windows 7 are:
a) Click on start button and select Control Panel
from available menu option
b) A screen similar to the one shown below will
be displayed

c) Click on the Appearance and Personalization
option
d) A new window named Appearance and
Personalization shall be displayed

e) Click on show hidden files and folders bar
f) In Advanced settings there is an option called
Hidden files and folders
g) Under this option select radio button Show
hidden files, folders, and drives
h) Uncheck the option Hide extensions for known
file types
i) Uncheck the option Hide protected operating
system files (Recommended)
j) The folder option window should look like the
one below, once all the steps written above are
followed

k) Press Apply button and then click OK button
Make sure not to tamper with system/OS
files. These files are protected and are required
by the Windows to operate correctly.
