How to block a phone number from calling you?
There are different ways to block unwanted calls from telemarketers or other sources. But all of these methods may not suit you. You must choose the method to block a call or block a number that suits you.
If you are trying to block your number from unsolicited calls from telemarketers, there is a simple method to accomplish this. You must simply register your phone number at National Do Not Call Registry. This is a registry available for users in USA. Once your phone number is registered here, it is illegal for telemarketers to call you. Similar service is offered in India at National Do Not Call Registry (NDNC) that ends your cell phone being bombarded by continuous promotional offers you never are going to use!
Other solutions for phone number blocking are based on the services offered by your service providers. Simple way to get the help of service providers is to call customer care! It is usually done to block a number of specific individual who is pestering with repeated calls. But some service providers may not immediately oblige your request and they may need several you to answer few security queries. But they help you to know various options available for you to block a cell phone and will guide how to do it.
AT&T has a service available helping you to allow or block numbers for your phone by calls or messages. This is called Parental Controls and it costs less than $5 a month. Verizon offers to block phone number by logging in to your account at VerizonWireless website and choose the settings in Spam control. Here you can block 5 numbers from calling your number. Sprint and T-Mobile offer service of blocking numbers by using the Settings for Security in which you can set phone number block under Call Settings menu. For other carriers like Vodafone, Aircel, Idea and others similar facilities are given; a call to Customer care will help you to find out.
There are hand set based options also that help you to overcome this problem. If you are using Nokiahandset running on Symbian, download the app like Blacklist that will block phone numbers. Samsungsets also have Block List feature besides having a feature to send the incoming call to voicemail even without alerting on the call.
