Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, Xperia Arc Now Officially Available in Europe [Are You Getting One?]
After a brief delay scare that didn�t last long, Sony Ericsson today announced the availability of one of the most interesting Android devices we�ve come across � the Xperia Play. After long being rumored as the �PSP phone� and tons of leaks providing undeniable evidence, Sony Ericsson officially outed the thing in Barcelona in February 2011.
Since that time, many-a trade shows have passed and our love for the phone grew more intense each time we were able to get our hands on it. Now you folks will be able to own one for yourself. (Those of you in Europe and Asia, anyway.) Six additional markets will see their launch within two weeks� time. If you don�t remember, Verizon�s Xperia Play is rumored to be available in the middle of this month � perfect timing, we�d say.
This occasion begs the obvious question: are you getting one? After all of the hype and anticipation, are you ready to make this your next smartphone and jump into a new realm of mobile gaming? We know there is a fine group of phans over at AndroidForums.com looking forward to picking this thing up.
Before you go out and spend your coins on this, though, be sure to check this list of Xperia Play-optimized titles that Sony Ericsson was so kind enough to put together. Don�t forget that Sony Computer Entertainment Europe is now offering original Playstation titles on the Android market for about 2.99 pounds per download. (Be sure to download the right games for your region and language.)
Sony is also said to be offering their Music Unlimited service on this device. If you�re a PS3 owner you probably know what this is � a pay-to-hear streaming music service. The price isn�t the most comfortable to look at � there are 3.99 and 9.99 pounds per month plans � but we hear it�s a pretty damn good service.
For those of you who just want a new smartphone without the game-pad, the Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is also now available. It�s no slouch of a phone with its 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, 4-inch FWVGA display with Sony�s Bravia Engine technology, Android 2.3 with a touch of Sony Ericsson�s custom user interface on top and perhaps one of the best cameras I�ve seen on a cell phone with a sensor of its physical size. This one is also available in several regions including Europe. No United States carrier has announced availability of this device.
