Transfer word documents without losing footnotes between iPad and laptop

I need to transfer word documents between my laptop and iPad in both directions? How can I do that without losing footnotes?Documents To Go is a great app for supporting view, edit & create Word (.doc, .docx) files. It can preserve footnotes both ways.You can high fidelity viewing: embedded graphics, tables, comments, footnotes/endnotes, text boxes. But can not edit them.
